Uszi ("the app") is an independent, one-person project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any of the swimming facilities it lists. This page explains what data the app collects and how it's used.
The app doesn't have user accounts, sign-in, or a personal profile. It doesn't collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information unless you choose to send it to me directly (for example, by emailing feedback or a schedule report — see below).
If you enable notifications, the app registers a device push token with Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google service) and subscribes that token to topics for the facilities and saved searches you follow, so I can notify you about schedule changes. This token identifies your device for delivering pushes — it is not linked to a name, email address, or any other personal information. Turning notifications off, or uninstalling the app, stops this entirely.
If you turn on Calendar Sync, the app writes events for your saved swim slots and searches directly to a calendar you choose, using Apple's EventKit framework. This happens entirely on your device — synced events are never sent to me or stored on my servers. Depending on the access level you grant, the app can also update or remove events it previously created when you edit or delete the saved item. The app never reads or changes anything else in your calendar.
The app uses Firebase App Check to verify that requests to my backend come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app. This is a device-integrity check — it does not collect personal information.
If you use the in-app "Send Feedback" feature, the message you write (and an email address, only if you choose to include one) is sent to me by email. I use this only to respond to you and improve the app, and never share it with third parties.
If you use the in-app "Report an issue" feature to flag a schedule that looks wrong, the report (the pool, the category, your message, and an email address only if you choose to include one) is stored in my database along with basic diagnostic info such as app and OS version. It's used only to review and fix the affected schedule, and never shared with third parties beyond the Google/Firebase infrastructure that stores it. Reports aren't tied to a device or account, and there's currently no automatic expiry — I keep them for reference until I manually delete them. If you included a contact email and want a report removed sooner, just ask (see Contact below).
The app does not collect or use your location.
The app shows no advertising and does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. I do not sell or share your data with third parties, beyond the Google/Firebase infrastructure described above that's needed to run the app (hosting the database, delivering push notifications, and protecting the backend from abuse).
The Google/Firebase infrastructure this app relies on runs on Google Cloud, which may process data outside your own country, including in the United States. Google participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for this kind of transfer. I don't operate any servers of my own.
The app is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, or delete data I hold about you, and to object to how it's processed; I rely on legitimate interest (running and improving the app, and following up on issues you report) as the legal basis. In practice this mostly applies to feedback and schedule reports where you included an email address — most of what the app sends (push tokens, anonymous reports) isn't tied to your identity, so I have nothing to look up without that context. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Hungary, the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH).
